Job Description
Wold Architects and Engineers, a dynamic, growth-oriented architectural and engineering firm with headquarters in downtown Minneapolis is seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Manager to oversee our IT operations, support remote locations, and act as the primary liaison with our third-party IT service provider. This role involves both hands-on technical work and team leadership, ensuring our IT infrastructure and services support business operations across all departments and locations.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s IT operations, including infrastructure, support services, cybersecurity, and vendor management. Responsible for the overall planning, organizing, direction, and administration of all company IT systems and driving continuous improvement across the organization
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Team & Vendor Management
· Manage relationships with third-party IT service providers and technology vendors to ensure service quality and alignment with business objectives.
· Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders across departments and leadership levels.
· Consistently evaluate new technology solutions, including AI tools that support productivity and design innovation.
· Recruit, lead, train, and mentor the internal IT team, fostering professional growth and career development.
IT Support
· Oversee incoming IT requests, incidents, and problems. Manages and coordinates urgent and complicated support issues. Acts as escalation point for all requests and incidents.
· Develop and refine support workflows to ensure efficient resolution and knowledge sharing.
· Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and service metrics.
· Oversees solutions repository and ensure top quality solutions are available to the staff
Systems & Operations
· Manage the company’s core technology systems, infrastructure, and cloud environments.
· Lead cybersecurity initiatives to ensure systems are secure, resilient, and compliant with industry standards.
· Conduct IT service benchmarking and implement best practices and innovative solutions.
· Standardize IT processes across all office locations, continuously improving workflows and technology utilization.
Project Management
· Oversee IT budgets, procurement, and vendor contracts with a focus on cost-effectiveness and strategic value.
· Lead IT projects from planning through execution, including office relocations, system upgrades, AI adoption, and post-merger integrations.
· Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and scalability, ensuring IT investments support business goals.
Support & Operations
· Lead the IT support team in providing responsive, high-quality service across the firm.
· Ensure timely resolution of help desk tickets and proactive support for the whole firm.
· Establish and maintain IT policies, procedures, and service standards that promote consistency and reliability across locations.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· Minimum of 5 years of progressive IT experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
· Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry strongly preferred.
· Proven expertise in:
o Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
o Network architecture, VPNs, firewalls, and cybersecurity best practices
o Cloud and on-premise infrastructure (WAN/LAN, multi-server environments)
o Design and collaboration software (Autodesk, Revit, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Adobe Suite)
· Demonstrated success in leading IT teams and managing vendor relationships.
· Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
· Experience supporting multi-site environments.
· Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Requirements
· Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer and telephone.
· Occasionally lift up to 15–20 pounds.
· Work is performed in a standard office environment with no unusual hazards.
